Dallas County Assistant District Attorney Justin Moore was arrested for driving while intoxicated earlier this week.
The Dallas Police’s arrest report details that just after 2:30 am on Sunday morning police observed Moore, a DeSoto resident, was speeding, swerving and tailgating other drivers near Loop 12 on Highway 67.
Two officers pulled Moore over at 2:45 am. They report that an intensely strong smell of alcohol wafted from the vehicle. The police report further details that the officers asked Moore if he had been drinking. According to the report Moore did not answer the policeman’s question and struggled to show his driver’s license.  . He ultimately provided the officers with his District Attorney’s Office identification.
The report paints the picture of a defiant Moore who told shouted slurs, calling one officer an ‘Uncle Tom’ and accusing other officers of being members of the Ku Klux Klan. It was reported that Moore also told officers, “You arrested the wrong person. I’m going to make sure you don’t have a job on Monday.”
The prosecutor was booked at the Dallas County jail on a DWI charge.
In a statement provided to News 8, newly elected District Attorney Susan Hawk communicated, “We have confirmed with the police department that an Assistant DA was arrested last night under the suspicion of DWI. We are suspending this person without pay until we can review the facts surrounding his arrest and make any further decisions.”
