frisco fire deptA woman is dead and her husband critically injured following a vehicle fire this afternoon.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Investigators with Frisco Fire and Police departments remain on the scene.

Dispatchers received a call at 1:17 p.m.  Frisco firefighters responded to the 5700 block of Warren Parkway. Crews arrived at 1:21 p.m.  When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle engulfed in ‘heavy’ flames.  The car was parked in driveway, east of Baylor Medical Center of Frisco.   The woman died at the scene; the man was airlifted by Careflite to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

The deceased is identified as 71-year-old Marilyn Savoy.  Her husband, 78-year-old Robert Savoy, remains hospitalized.  The couple is from Frisco.

Frisco Fire responded with two engines, a truck company and two ambulances.  The fire was extinguished at 1:32 p.m.

Portions of the hospital were evacuated when smoke activated the alarm system in an adjacent physician building.  Firefighters checked the building and occupants were allowed to return a short time later.
