When watching the viral video remake of Bruno Mars’ hit Uptown Funk by A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School students and their theater director Scot Pankey, I thought two things: he is an impressive dancer and in rather good shape for all that running and dancing but more importantly I was touched by how they clearly involved a diverse cast of dancers.

The sense of fun, creativity and inclusion of kids normally not chosen to be in the forefront of such projects I think are just two factors of why they are all viral video stars. Then when you consider the amount of work and skill it took to do all of that in ONE take. Hats off to Pankey and the kids.

They were likely shocked and delighted that the music superstar tweeted about their video on Tuesday.
