Fifty Shades of Grey very popular with pirates too

50 shadesPirates showed a passion for “Fifty Shades of Grey,” with copies of the erotic thriller downloaded almost 300,000 times worldwide within three days of the film’s U.S. theatrical debut. The low-quality copies recorded with handheld cameras in theaters were downloaded at the rate of nearly 100,000 per day.

The piracy-tracking firm Excipio reported that as of Sunday night the flick was downloaded in the:

  • U.S. by 44,896 downloaders
  • U.K. by 33,839 downloaders
  • India by 19,298 downloaders; and
  • Philippines by 16,952 downloaders.
