THE COLOR PURPLE – The Musical is the inspiring family saga that tells an unforgettable story of a woman who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world. Fans who love this story now have an opportunity to enjoy it on stage at the Jubilee Theatre.

This musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel (and the popular 1985 Steven Spielberg film) spotlights Celie, a downtrodden young woman whose personal awakening over the course of 40 years forms the arc of this epic story. With a joyous score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel, African music and blues, THE COLOR PURPLE – The Musical is a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love and a celebration of life.

Jubilee Theatre is staging this production in the grandest possible fashion, by utilizing every inch of the intimate performance space with a cast of 20 actors, singers and dancers. Ebony Marshall Oliver will be returning to the Jubilee stage, performing the role of Celie and Kristen Bond, will be making her Jubilee Theatre debut in the role of Nettie. Many other Jubilee Theatre favorites will be returning for this blockbuster production and a host of new faces will round out the cast of twenty.

The Jubilee never half steps any production, you read the book and you love the movie, but the intimacy of the Jubilee Theatre promises to bring an entirely different experience to a story that has meant so much to the African American literature, cinematic and theater.

Tickets may be purchased online at jubileetheatre.org, in person at the theater Box Office, located at 506 Main Street, or by calling 817-338-4411. Box Office hours of operation are Tuesday – Friday Noon. to 6 p.m. and one hour before each performance.
