Downtown Dallas shooting suspect was killed by police; prayer service at Noon

breaking newsDallas Police Chief David Brown speaking to the media this morning started off by saying this division between the police and those they serve must end. He did correct earlier media reports, the suspect did not kill himself. He was killed when the police used a bomb robot. The chief acknowledged three other suspects are in custody but would not provide more information at this point.

He ended his speech asking the public to join him in applauding those who put their lives on the line. He shared that the families of the slain officers are having a hard time absorbing why all of this has happened. Chief Brown invited the public to pray for them and for the officers working to bring others to justice.

According to Chief Brown, the suspect during hours of conversation with police shared a wide range of information. The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter and had a desire to kill white police officers. He stated he was not affiliated with any groups, and indicated he committed this shooting spree on his own. The suspect warned that they would find bombs but a sweep of several blocks have not located any bombs.

An interfaith leadership group of ministers will lead a prayer at Thanksgiving Square today at Noon according to Mayor Mike Rawlings.
