5 Things to do in Dallas Labor Day Weekend

OK yes, this weekend marks the official end of summer. But at least most of us get a chance to enjoy at least one extra day off. Here are five things to do in DFW during your three days off.

Scrub Free Zone

TLC starts off the weekend Friday Sept. 2 with a show at the Gas Monkey Live located at 10110 Technology Blvd. E Dallas in Dallas. You can purchase tickets at 877-435-9849 or www.ticketfly.com.

Something for the grown and sexy crowd

30SomethingDallas.com celebrates 10 years of creating lasting impressions on Saturday, Sept. 3 with a show featuring Stokley Williams, lead singer of the platinum selling R&B group Mint Condition. Also scheduled to appear is Erykah Badu’s, three-time Grammy Award nominated band, RC & The Gritz. An unnamed special guest is slated to join the affair as well. Tickets are available at here.

International Fashion Celebration

Dallas International Fashion (DIF) is a chance to promote the city’s multicultural inter-nationality within and around Dallas while working towards establishing favorable relations and cultural ties between Dallas residents and foreign Nationals. This unique event will showcase fashion, culture, and tourism. Creating a platform for cultures to create awareness for their products and attracting foreign investment to the City of Dallas forms a major part of the mission.

It is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 4 from 5 – 9 p.m. at the Music Hall at Fair Park located at 909 1st Avenue in Dallas. Tickets here.

Garland’s 71st Annual Labor Day Parade — Plus a Car Show
The 71st annual Labor Day Parade in Downtown Garland is a real community event. Everyone is invited to come out and see local bands, sports groups, and floats during the parade.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Glenbrook Drive and Ninth Street, then will head north on Glenbrook toward Main Street. Follow the parade east on Main, and then north on Fifth Street; the parade will continue down Fifth and will end near the Granville Arts Center.

After the parade, gather Downtown Garland Square for a classic car show.
