South Dallas Club inducts new and returning members

The historic South Dallas Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. held their annual New Member Induction Ceremony on Nov. 10. They were excited to add four new members while welcoming a returning member to the organization.

An affiliate of the South Central District of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc., (South Dallas BPW). The organization began their 2018-2019 club year with 67 members before adding five additional members. They are the largest club within the South Central District and among the top clubs in the Association.

The new members inducted were:

  • Marilyn Garner, Esq, an attorney with the Law Office of Marilyn D. Garner;
  • Dr. Pauline McLarty-Nevers, a clinical research coordinator with Dallas Veterans Administration Medical Center;
  • Sylvia Patterson, a retired accounts payable supervisor/manager;
  • Audra Riley, Esq. an attorney with the Law Office of Audra Riley.

The reclaimed member is former City Councilwoman Carolyn Arnold who is currently a candidate for re-election to the Dallas City Council for District 4.

President Gwendolyn H. Daniels and local officers operate 33-committees who are actively providing stellar programs in the Greater Dallas community. Their mission includes initiatives to improve the quality of life for citizens in the Dallas Metroplex and around the world. This month South Dallas BPW Club won 2nd Place in the National Association’s prestigious Bertha Perry Rhodes category for outstanding public programs.

In an effort to fulfill membership goals set forward nationally, South Dallas BPW’s Membership Committee led by 2nd Vice President Winstona Chadwick is preparing to induct two additional new members during the month of December. The Club works diligently to offer its members opportunities to raise scholarships, to volunteer with youth, with the aged, and conduct international projects, all in an effort to retain the interests of current members.
