Concerts lead the headlines for entertainment events in Dallas/Fort Worth this weekend with shows from Young Dolph, Justin Timberlake and Toni Braxton next Saturday featuring SWV.
Don’t miss out on seeing Young Dolph perform live on Jan. 19 starting at 8 p.m. at Gas Monkey Live, in Dallas. In April 2017, Memphis-raised rapper Young Dolph released, Bulletproof, one of the best hip-hop albums of the year that was inspired by a shooting he was involved in where 100 bullets were fired. Young Dolph left unharmed. But only a few months later, the frequent Gucci Mane collaborator miraculously avoided death when an assassin’s bullets did connect, in an all-too-ironic and violent twist. His two records since escaping death, 2017’s Thinking Out Loud and 2018’s Role Model, offer the sort of thoughtfully provocative and confessionally personal numbers that only man who knows it can all be gone tomorrow can provide. Join The Snowy Day And Other Stories By Ezra Jack Keats as they finish their final week from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20 at various times, at Dallas Children’s Theater, in Dallas. Oh, the magic of childhood! Follow Peter and his friends as they enjoy the excitement of a fresh snowfall, the delight of whistling for the first time, the awe in finding a special treasure, and the feelings of a first crush. Packed with humor and fun, this production combines wonderfully innovative shadow puppetry and live action to showcase Keats’ beautiful appreciation for diversity. In fact, his characters ultimately became an inspiration for Sesame Street! An adaptation of Whistle for Willie, Goggles!, A Letter to Amy, and the groundbreaking Caldecott Winner The Snowy Day, this uplifting story collection encourages us to play and live life to the fullest each day.
