PLANO — North Texas Performing Arts (NTPA) proudly announces the creation of the first regional Musical Theatre Orchestra in North Texas. The program aims to build a live music pipeline for student and professional musicians.
Senior Music Director Preston Page has been named Artistic Director of this new flagship initiative. “Learning to perform alongside live musicians is essential for a complete musical theatre education,” said Page. “Our audition-based program allows talented musicians to perform in a theatre pit, network with professionals, and expand their artistic skills.”
NTPA CEO Darrell Rodenbaugh adds, “Creating a live-music experience for select NTPA shows will elevate the performance experience for audiences.”
The NTPA Musical Theatre Orchestra launches with an eight-show season and serves as a cornerstone of the organization’s professional-level training model. NTPA seeks community and corporate sponsorships to expand live music education and sustain this innovative program.

“Our vision is to provide a pipeline for young musicians to gain experience with standard musical theatre repertoire alongside professional music directors,” said Page. “Supporting this program helps cover costs for instrument rentals, technical equipment, and professional mentorship for the next generation of performers.”
Debut Performance:
The Orchestra will debut with NTPA Repertory Theatre’s production of The Rocky Horror Show, running October 24–November 2 at the Rodenbaugh Theatre, Willow Bend Center of the Arts. Audiences can enjoy a four-piece live band during this cult-classic musical event. Tickets are available at www.ntpa.org/tickets.
Auditions:
Musicians 17 and under may audition, with placement based on skill level and availability. Interested performers can apply via the Audition Form on NTPA’s website.
