Mesquite Mayor Dan Alemán Jr. Urges Business Leaders: “Get Involved!”

MESQUITE, TX — Mesquite Mayor Dan Alemán Jr. shared an inspiring message with area business leaders during his State of the City presentation. The event, hosted by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce at Dallas College’s Eastfield Campus, drew a packed crowd eager to hear city updates and progress.

Mayor Alemán highlighted major achievements from the past year. These include increased youth engagement, growing volunteerism, and several significant economic development wins. His message to the crowd was clear and direct: “Get Involved!”

Since his 2021 election, Alemán has prioritized mentorship and youth development. His initiatives include the Mayor’s Reading Challenge, Epic Summer Youth Program, and Teen Turnout. Each program motivates hundreds of students by creating positive learning, recreation, and leadership opportunities.

Moreover, the Mayor emphasized the impact of Mesquite’s new Youth Council. The program connects with local businesses to promote civic engagement and develop future community leaders.

Alemán also discussed Mesquite’s rapid economic and population growth. The city has successfully attracted both national and international employers, such as HiTHIUM Energy Storage, Canadian Solar, and General Dynamics. Together, these companies have created nearly 3,000 new jobs.

Another highlight is the 58,000-square-foot redevelopment of Town East Mall, anchored by Main Event. This destination for retail and entertainment is expected to revitalize the area and generate over $500,000 annually. The project will attract families and strengthen the city’s economic base.

In his closing remarks, Mayor Alemán encouraged continued citizen engagement. He commended the success of community programs and neighborhood groups that preserve Mesquite’s sense of unity.

“Community events help us retain that small-town spirit many cities dream to achieve,” Alemán said. “Growth is great—but growth without engagement is just expansion. In Mesquite, we show up, give back, and lift each other up.”
