Melissa Harris-Perry offers a tearful apology about the Romney family photo comment

MSNBC dropped Alec Baldwin. Do you think Melissa Harris Perry will survive this mishap?
MSNBC dropped Alec Baldwin. Do you think Melissa Harris Perry will survive this mishap?

As anticipated, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry began her Saturday morning show with an apology for last Sunday’s segment about a Romney family photo that, as we all now know, didn’t have a good ending. In fact, the fall out is still ongoing.

She began by reiterating her previous apologies, almost verbatim, and added …

“Showing the photo in that context, that segment, was poor judgment. so without reservation or qualification, I apologize to the Romney family. Adults who enter into public life, implicitly consent to having less privacy, but their families, especially their children, should not be treated callously or thoughtlessly. My intention was not malicious, but I broke the ground rule that families are off-limits. For that I am sorry.”
