Darren Wilson, the Ferguson cop that killed the unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown two weeks ago clearly has a lot of supporters on the Internet. In fact, he has received about $300,000 between two GoFund me pages created on his behalf.

However, the page created on behalf of Michael Brown’s family has received almost all of the page’s $200,000. Although the page was created by the family’s attorney they say none of the money will go to legal expenses.

Wilson’s first page resulted in such hateful comments, the website disabled comments. The page raised nearly $265,000 but has now switch to a new page with an official charity sponsoring it so the contributions are tax deductible. That page has raised over $30,000.

What do you think of this online fundraising for the two sides?

  1. A large segment of the law enforcement “community” feels that the effort to get justice for Michael Brown is an attack on law enforcement. Many go so far (by extension) as to look at the justice effort as an attack on the white citizens of the U.S. So, they will spend large sums of their relatively full pockets. On the other hand, the people who want justice are relatively poor and unorganized when it comes to donating money.
