The City of Garland is hosting the 12th Annual Neighborhood Summit, Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Hyatt Place – Garland. This interactive event offers the opportunity to explore trends and opportunities that will help each of us to fully own and participate in the reality of a better, more sustainable, and more beautiful Garland.
Garland’s Vision for 2030
In 2030, Garland is a community that blends old and new into a distinctive destination for people and businesses. We successfully adapt to changing needs and benefit from new opportunities, strengthening our identity as a sustainable community with a hometown feel. We are a community known for our appealing neighborhoods, globally-connected business hub and beautiful parks, active lakefront, and natural areas.
This year’s conference theme – Paths That Lead to Neighborhood Excellence – will explore the level of excellence that can be consistently achieved if the diverse stakeholders – residents, government entities, businesses, educators, youth, faith and nonprofit organizations – take action.
The keynote speaker is Charles L. Marohn, president of Strong Towns, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping America’s cities and towns achieve financial strength and resiliency, as our keynote speaker and plenary discussion leader. This session provides an opportunity for attendees to join the conversation and bring ideas for better Garland neighborhoods.
