Alicia Keys, Singer, Pianist, Actress turns 34 today

On January 25, 1981, Alicia Keys was born in Manhattan, New York  as Alicia Auguello Cook to Teresa Augello and Craig Cook.  She grew up studying Mozart and Chopin, and graduated from Professional Performing Arts School as valedictorian.

Alicia began her career on The Cosby Show at the age of four, made her film debut in Smokin’ Aces in 2006 and also went on to appear in The Nanny Diaries in 2007.  The following year in 2008, she appeared in The Secret Life of Bees, which earned her a nomination at the NAACP Image Awards.

She was the first singer to receive five Grammy Awards at once after releasing her debut album, Songs in A Minor at age 20, which included “Fallin,” in 2001. The Diary of Alicia Keys, As I Am and The Element of Freedom – made her a worldwide superstar.  Her hit album Girl on Fire earned her a 15th career Grammy Award in 2014 when it was named Best R&B Album.

Alicia is married rapper Swizz Beatz on July 31, 2010. They had a son named Egypt in October 2010 and a second son named Genesis in December 2014
