Lewisville residents satisfied with police department

lewisville policeResults from a recent online survey found that 87 percent of residents are satisfied with the job the Lewisville Police Department is doing and 79 percent are satisfied with the appearance of Lewisville as a whole. The survey was conducted from May 6 through May 23.

Close to 900 responses were received in this survey. Police Services was chosen because results from the 2014 and 2015 Residential Satisfaction Surveys showed a lower sense of overall safety among residents outside their own neighborhood. City Appearance/Property Maintenance was chosen because Code Enforcement received satisfaction ratings near 50 percent in past surveys.

Overall, Lewisville residents have a highly positive view of the Lewisville Police Department. When asked to evaluate a list of eight specific criteria, residents rated all eight factors at least 87.07 percent positive. 90.85 percent of respondents say they feel safe or very safe in the city as a whole, 92.38 percent feel safest within their own residential area. The survey also found residents are most concerned about violent crimes, criminal gangs, and illegal drugs.

As for City Appearance/Property Maintenance, 79.88 percent of respondents are satisfied with the appearance of Lewisville, while 79.31 percent are satisfied with the appearance of their own neighborhoods. Respondents ranked residential street parking as the most crucial factor for the City to address. Second on that list is sidewalk maintenance.

Results from the entire survey will be used by City leaders to pinpoint areas of success and improvement. They also serve as building blocks as the City moves forward with the Lewisville 2025 vision plan. While overall results are positive, there always is room for improvement.
