Do you know a hoader?

The “Perfect Storm” conference will concentrate on the behavioral aspects of hoarding. Compulsive hoarding refers to the acquisition of and failure to discard an excessive amount of possessions, which appear to be useless or of limited value.

First responders often encounter hoarding unexpectedly and are confused about how to resolve the wide range of problems – from public health and fire safety violations to concern for the welfare of the children, elders, and animals living in those conditions. Family members are often confused and frustrated on how to help their loved ones.

Hoarders may suffer from psychiatric disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention deficit disorder and major depression, and can be caused or aggravated by problems associated with increasing age or physical disabilities.

Cost is $25 per attendee and includes lunch and .6 continuing education credits including Social Work, LPC, LMFT, LCDC, Guardianship and pending TCLEOSE

The event is scheduled for Friday, June 8 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Windsor Senior Living Center – Conference Center located at 7750 LBJ Freeway in Dallas.
