City to host hiring event in southern Dallas on Thursday

The City of Dallas, in partnership with Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas and Community Council of Greater Dallas, will host Dallas Hires: Hiring Event on Thursday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Redbird Mall.

“A skilled and talented workforce is essential to the city’s future,” said Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson. “We must focus on preparing our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow and provide opportunities such as Dallas Hires to help our residents find employment and opportunities to grow their careers.”

Dallas Hires: Hiring Event is a component of the Dallas Hires initiative aimed at enhancing the workforce in southern Dallas. Approximately 30 employers will be on-site at the event to meet and potentially interview job seekers.

“In an effort to address Mayor Johnson’s top priority for his first term, we are hosting Dallas Hires, a hiring event to grow our own workforce here in city of Dallas,” said District 3 Council Member Casey Thomas. “We want to provide opportunities for residents in the city of Dallas to address the workforce needs of local municipalities and businesses that drive our economy.”

Employment opportunities at the Hiring Event will range from entry-level to mid-level positions and employers will be hiring for various career fields. Attendees are encouraged to bring their resume and register in advance at bit.ly/dallashires.

“It’s important for the City of Dallas to address and eliminate the barriers that limit residents in southern Dallas from obtaining employment,” said Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax.

Ahead of the Hiring Event, the City of Dallas hosted six Think Ahead Thursday workshops in February. The sessions were held in southern Dallas to address barriers to workforce and provide application and interview support to participants to prepare for the Hiring Event.
