Sen. Tim Kaine joins John Boyd at his farm for Black Farmers Roundtable with National Black Farmers Association

BOYDTON, VA – Senator Tim Kaine joined John Boyd, President of the National Black Farmers Association, and local Virginia farmers for an insightful roundtable discussion on key issues facing Black farmers, held at Boyd’s farm in Virginia.

Kaine attended a roundtable discussion in Baskerville with the National Black Farmers Association Founder and President John Boyd, Jr. and other Black farmers to discuss the devastating impacts of President Trump’s trade wars and the uncertainty caused by President Trump’s illegal freeze on federal funding, including for many U.S. Department of Agriculture programs.

Kaine has adamantly opposed President Trump’s trade wars and spoken out against universal tariffs that will would raise prices for Americans and hurt Virginia farmers.
Kaine has introduced legislation to undo President Trump’s tariffs on Canada, which amount to a 25 percent tax on imported goods.

The legislation is privileged, meaning the U.S. Senate will be required to vote on it in the coming weeks.

Kaine has also previously introduced the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes on Imported Goods Act and the Stopping Tariffs on Allies and Bolstering Legislative Exercise of (STABLE) Trade Policy Act to shield American families and businesses from soaring prices caused by broad-based tariffs.
