Plano Fire-Rescue is set to celebrate the grand reopening of Fire Station 5 following a $12 million renovation and expansion funded by the 2021 bond referendum.
Located at Park Boulevard and Preston Road, Fire Station 5 first opened in 1983. It has served Plano residents for more than four decades. The renovation nearly doubles the station’s size from 7,200 to 14,000 square feet, providing upgraded facilities to support the city’s growing needs.
Upgraded Facilities
-
Additional space to house more emergency vehicles, including a new ambulance and a hazardous materials truck and trailer.
-
Renovated living areas with extra beds for firefighters.
-
Expanded parking for staff and visitors.
-
Built-in storm shelter for safety during severe weather events.

“Fire Station 5 has always been a cornerstone of our fire service,” said Fire Chief Chris Biggerstaff.
“This project provides modern facilities that match the high level of professionalism and commitment our firefighters bring to work every day.”
Community Celebration
The public is invited to attend the grand opening ceremony featuring a ribbon cutting, guided tours, and the chance to meet firefighters.
