HOUSTON — The winners have been announced for the fourth annual Black Authors Matter Children’s Book Awards, celebrating the achievements of African-American children’s authors. The event, sponsored by the National Black Book Festival (NBBF), recognizes outstanding work among both independent and traditionally published writers.
Established in 2022, the awards continue to spotlight diverse voices that inspire, educate, and empower young readers. Eligible submissions were required to be copyrighted in 2023, 2024, or 2025 and either written by an African-American author or focused on African-American culture and themes.
A panel of acclaimed and award-winning writers served as judges, selecting winners in eight literary categories. Each entry was reviewed for creativity, storytelling quality, and its impact on young audiences.
